Nature vs Nurture

The argument of nature versus nurture has gone on for years. In reality there is no debate.

Connections between neurons, known as synapses, are the main channels of information flow and storage in the brain. Genes make proteins that shape the way neurons get wired together. Once we realize that the basic wiring plan is under genetic influence, it's easy to see how people can have very similar brains and yet be so different, right from the start of their lives. Genetic forces, operating on the synaptic arrangement of the brain, constrain, at least to some extent, they way we act, think and feel. The puzzle of how nature and nurture shape who we are is simplified by the realization that synapses are the key to the operations of both.

An accurate map of the brain would be different for each of us and would shift over time.

This constant change is commonly referred to as 'plasticity'.
